Another stellar high-end mall – Ginza 6 – just opened their doors in Tokyo. Under the supervision of Mori Art Museum, the massive open-air space in the center will be filled with an enormous pumpkin installation of avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama for an inaugural pop-up exhibition. In addition, works by internationally famed artists such as Shinji Ohmaki, Misa Funai, and Yuumi Domoto will be exhibited permanently.
Other works to be exhibited include the paired paintings created by ultra-technologists group teamLab, and botanist/artist Patrick Blanc. The paintings will cover two 12m long walls – one of them a massive digital waterfall, the other – a colossal green plant wall sculpture.
By incorporating the various elements of Ginza’s nature such as history, tradition, class, culture, and innovation, GINZA SIX aims to create a one-of -a-kind experience and embarks on a challenge to combine art with a retail facility.
And ladies, don’t miss the ultra cool Dior Cafe designed by Peter Marino. Having your coffee meeting in this set up is hard to beat.
