Virtual Reality in the Art World and the Reality of 2.500 Unanswered Emails
Art advisor, Partner Khora Contemporary, Zurich

Formerly Christie’s International Head of Russia and CIS, who built up and grew the company’s strong presence in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, Sandra Nedvetskaia holds major relationships with collectors globally, helping them with acquisitions at auction and private sale as well as with loans to important international museums. As their trustee, Nedvetskaia has also been passionately involved with the Naked Heart Foundation (The organisation was founded in 2004 by top-model and philanthropist Natalia Vodianova) from the outset, helping raise money for the organisation`s focus on children with disabilities in Russia.

Now Sandra Nedvetskaia is part of a new venture: A production company for virtual reality art: Khora Contemporary, that just launches at the upcoming Venice Biennial in mid-May…

In the art world currently I find most exciting that…
Virtual Reality is becoming the new medium for artists to explore. This is exactly what we are doing with our new venture, Khora Contemporary, a production company for VR art. Artists both established and young are embracing new technological possibilities and releasing the creative genius into this virgin territory.

Number of unanswered mails in your account…
2,510… shocking? These are mostly social and promotions. Rest assured that anything of importance is answered within a few hours.

My perfect working outfit…
Leather harem pants, men’s cut shirt, light ankle length cashmere coat and Converse x Maison Martin Margiela sneakers (Aquazzura heels in the tote for later). It has to work from day to night, from school run to airport, from art fair to the tiles.

My favourite new brand discovery…
Gembalies, I have been living in Frauke’s timeless pieces for the last 3 years. It seems many brands today have abandoned the underlying reason why we buy high fashion- beautiful high-quality fabric that ages nobly. Garments shouldn’t just look fabulous, they have to feel fabulous against the skin.

My everyday online art read is…
Artnet news.

My necessary extravagance is…
My Fender Stratocaster American Vintage electric guitar- my passion of late.

Most ridiculous thing I’ve ever bought…
One is allowed to be a little impulsive, ridiculous isn’t really the appropriate word, but if I fall in love with an artwork, there is a danger we have to live off tinned food for a month or three…

My ultimate secret after long working hours…
Reading a bedtime story to my kids. I swear, these have magic sedative power!

My favourite collaboration of the art- and fashion world…
Meret Oppenheim art jewellery by Gems & Ladders. I have her sugar-ring and snake ear-cuff designed in 1939, which couldn’t look more contemporary!

My favourite hashtag…
#listentoyoureyes

On my office table I always have…
My German table lamp from the 1920’s, a cup of Genmaicha, my Sennheisers and a little explosion of paperwork, catalogues and handwritten notes.

The most arty city is…
Berlin natürlich.

Who are the best dressed in the art world…
The ones you won’t find on Instagram.

Art world gent I would love to have lunch with…
Sadly I was born in the wrong decade, would have killed for lunch with Lucian Freud or Sigmar Polke. I came close enough by stealing a smile from Mr. Freud, having sat at an adjoining table to his regular at the Wolseley.

Artist(s) we should have on our watch list is/are…
Eileen Quinlan, Claudia Comte, Taus Makahcheva, Evgeny Antufiev, Vladimir Chernyshev.
