This year, the iconic wife, muse, and sidekick of the renowned Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dalí, Gala Dalí is tapped for Rochas’ Spring-Summer 2016 collection by Alessandro Dell’acqua. While Rochas is notable for its hyper-feminist tone and lavish trimming, Dell’acqua did not fail to surprise fans of Gala with invocative yet delicately sporty touch.
Infiltrating elements of whimsy and hyperbole, Rochas’ outlandish collection is characterized by a baroque and surreal sense of style that resembles the character of Gala. With a slew of negligee looks and glamorous floral print suits, the designs are eminently beguiling. Among the eccentric yet nostalgic collection, the 30s midi-length dress and opera coat embellished in gold embroidery and sequins embody an opulent attitude, suggesting the surrealist motifs of Gala Dalí from tapestries, cute tiny giraffes, to blown-out jacquards.
