Ever see an artwork and wish you could Shazam it? Look no further. The Magnum app, founded by New York entrepreneur Magnus Resch, the database of art images will show the artist’s name, the name of the artwork and the price of artworks, which leaks information usually kept under wraps by galleries. “I want to make the market more accessible,” Resch told The Art Newspaper. Asking for a price is very annoying, it’s like a beauty contest.” All prices on the app, he adds, are “verified.”
As for DiCaprio, an avid art collector, said in a statement that he is proud to partner with the app, as it “continues to educate people everywhere about the art around them.” Indeed.
