Having worked as the Director of Moscow Office for the Moscow World Fine Art Fair for more than three years, and now a specialist in contemporary art at Phillips Auction House, the Moscow born and based art expert Kalista Fenina is a devotee of the art industry who engages herself to museums, art fairs and galleries in different corners of the world, and meeting exciting artsy people in her active and vivacious social circle. Other than having an artistic eye and profound knowledge about the art market, the buoyant girl also has a style of elegance as the signature of her sophistication and acumen in her field.

What does your ideal working outfit look like?
When I do not know what to wear to work, black Dolce & Gabbana trouser suit and black patent high-heeled Fifi Louboutin always work for me.
What’s best: heels or flats? Which brand or style?
Definitely heels! I think that the best shoes are black suede pumps So Kate by Louboutin; they are perfect with almost any outfit. During the day, I like wearing Chanel flats, they are really comfortable.
What’s your favorite art-related blog or app?
On Instagram, I follow museums, art galleries and auction houses, such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Gagosian Gallery, Phillips Auction House and many others.
What was the last thing you bought and loved?
I think that was Dolce & Gabbana’s black midi lace dress, black cowboy boots by Chanel and perfectly red lipstick Dolce & Gabbana 620 Red Devil.
What is/are your personal style signifier(s)/identifier(s)?
I definitely prefer classics and elegant style, I love dresses.
What’s your necessary extravagance?
At the moment, this is something by Dolce & Gabbana, these things inspire me with their uniqueness. I love finding Dolce & Gabbana accessories from previous collections. I consider certain items, like filigree clip-on earrings, true masterpieces.
Three things/products you always need to have in your purse?
Lip balm, perfumes from the travel range by Kilian and, surely, my iPhone.
What’s your ultimate beauty secret after long working hours?
Good music, good movie. As for beauty care – following my dermatologist’s advice, I wash my face with thermal water in the morning and in the evening, the most delicate one is by Avene, I use Clarisonic to clean my skin better. I love Herb Clear Gel by the Japanese brand Cefine – it is wonderful. And also, classical moisturizing Crème de la Mer.
What’s/are your favourite work(s) of art?
It is hard for me to name one piece, yet I have been impressed by Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s Spring, I saw it at the Getty Museum in LA, and also La Nuit étoilée/The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh at the Musée d’Orsay.
What in the art world are you most excited about at the moment?
As for temporary exhibitions – you can still make it to the Venice Biennale, amazing Japanese, Canadian and French pavilions. I have also been inspired by the François Pinault Foundation collection at the Venice Biennale. As for permanent exhibitions, one of my favorite museums is the Musée d’Orsay in Paris for those, who like the impressionists. In Los Angeles, I was impressed by the Getty Museum on the mountain with a perfect view overlooking Los Angeles and its own impressive art collection.

Where are you off to next?
To the wedding of my friends Alexander and Ekaterina at Côte d’Azur, at Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild.
Where is your next art trip/travel going to be?
I would like to attend the Phillips contemporary art auction in London and New York, as well as Art and Jewels of the World Fair in Baku (Azerbaijan) in November, organized by my friends.
In your eyes: what is the most arty city?
Definitely New York. New York has amazing contemporary art museums. Something new opens and changes happen all the time. For instance, not so long ago the Whitney Museum of American Art moved to a new building in Manhattan, I’d love to see it…
