Who would have expected that beyond all these flashily glam snaps from the peachy Argentinian-born Spanish artist Amalia Ulman, everything was fabricated, scripted, and of course, fake? Now calm down, read her bio and stories below and you’ll know…
Studied fine art in London, this beauteous girl, at her twenties, developed her interest as well as prowess as relating art to sexuality and gender. In April 2014, Amalia began her performance project titled “Excellences and Perfections”, transformed herself with hair dyed, wardrobe changed, and started pretentiously disguising as an imaginary self until September when she put an end to this art stunt (She even pretended that she had undergone several surgical procedures from breast implants to nose job!). Unsurprisingly, the actually-amiable Amalia definitely stunned the art world turning normality into performance art coupled with intricate stories. And through jaw-dropping fictive venture, Amalia overthrew the biological nature of femininity and reveal the blatant truth that femininity is what people construct. Her work will soon be exhibited at the Whitechapel Gallery in east London, then followed by Tate Modern.
