The #Girlsrule Philosophy of a Guggenheim Trustee
Trustee of the Solomon R Guggenheim Foundation, Singapore

Cindy Chua-Tay is the only Singaporean on the Guggenheim Foundation’s board of trustees and started her passion for art and culture at a young age, when visiting global museums such as Louvre during family holidays.
Having a background in the fashion industry (and being trained in ballet) deepened her eye for beautiful objects and creativity. Her involvement with the Guggenheim started with Chua’s interest and appreciation for the works of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, especially the fascination for his organic structures.
In the press release on her appointment, the Guggenheim Foundation stated to be fond of her experience serving both established and emerging arts institutions and that “she will be especially involved with the Guggenheim’s Asian Art Initiative and its forthcoming exhibition projects focused on Asia”.
Encouraged and accompanied by her husband, Chua-Tay established a significant collection of contemporary art including works by Gerhard Richter, Christopher Wool, Murakami or Cindy Sherman and also regards herself as strong supporter and advocate of women artists. It is not without reason that #girlsrule is her favourite hashtag.
