It isn’t every year that you turn 125. So for Vogue’s 125th anniversary September issue, a one of a kind cover was required – and delivered. Annie Leibovitz, Bruce Weber, Inez and Vinoodh, and painter John Currin were enlisted to present their own unique version and vision of the issue’s cover muse, Jennifer Lawrence. Not only is a great cover but yet a historic: After Vogue commissioned Salvador Dali in 1944 to paint their cover, it only has been the second time for an artist commission and painted cover ever since then.
“I was interested mostly in seeing my work in a completely different way,” Mr. Currin said. “I liked the idea of seeing it with the Vogue logo and other words and things over it.”
Also Currin curvy and self positive style is a brilliant statement and whether you like art and fashion, or only one of the two – this is certainly an iconic issue to add to your collection.
Thanks Vogue and John Currin for this pleasant September surprise – cant wait to get our hands on the final result.maybe some collage out of the two covers…? or something more fun.
