Agnes Martin’s subtle color palette and minimalistic approach are just in line with the COS aesthetic of clean shapes, which is why they go hand in hand for the artist’s upcoming solo show at Guggenheim, opening October 7th.

With her signature minimalism, Martin was one of the few female artists to emerge from a rather male oriented art movement in the 1960’s. In this cooperation, COS will release a 12-pieces capsule collection inspired by Martin’s work and influenced by the artists’s iconic geometric compositions.

Supporting various art projects around the world developed as strategic elements of COS image already during the past year. In the last April, COS commissioned Sou Fujimoto Architects to create the multisensory installation “Forest of Light” for Salone del Mobile in Milan. And for the Berlin Gallery Weekend just a few weeks later, COS teamed up with artist Michael Sailstorfer to create “Silver Cloud”, a specially commissioned outdoor installation.

Having welcomed nearly 1 million visitors last year, the coming Guggenheim collaboration will no doubt strengthen COS’ brand awareness in the US market!
